The fifth and final single from the album is here! The equinox may have passed, and we in the north are now sinking into the gloomy abyss of winter, but Dawn Chorus reminds us what we have to look forward to come the spring - with cheery stabs of brass, meandering bass and a bright morning greeting from all of our feathered friends.

The new album "Wyvern & Worm" was released last Monday (1 August). Let there be rejoicing throughout the realm.

It is available via CD BABY, either directly or through the shoppe on this site. You have a choice of digital download or a limited edition CD, each of which has been individually signed and numbered (a total run of 100). Something to pass down to the grandchildren.

The first batch of CDs quickly sold out, but don't slip into a blue funk - a new batch is on the way. Feel free to pre-order - a copy of the record will wing its way in your direction soon enough.

The record will also soon be available via iTunes and other partners. If that's your thing.

The folktales accompanying the album are also coming along nicely. If you haven't had a look yet, these are microfictions (i.e. short, bite-sized and easily digestible in one sitting), dark little gothic fantasias that inform and enrich the spirit of the record. If you've ever read any Italo Calvino or Angela Carter (or Harry Flowers), it's that kind of thing - hyper-real, magical and ever-so slightly twisted. They all weave together, too, by the way, even if they might not seem connected at first.

Yours in song,

A new moon on Lammas Eve can only mean one thing - Wood Wives!

Penultimate single from the incredibly imminently forthcoming album, this horny little rocker blends Germanic folklore with dirty guitars to produce a tune so shapely you're bound to fall head over heels (in love? In a stupor?).

Take it away, girls...

The third single from the forthcoming record is here. English Rose is the opening track on the album - an unabashed pop tune of what I like to think is a 'classic vintage': Shakers and back-beats, call and response harmonies and a dash of fuzz guitar. Nice.

More folktales are appearing by the day, but it ain't grim brother...

The second single from the soon-to-be-released new album is now on the site awaiting your hungry ears. There are one or two new folktales for you as well.

Woven Words is a waltzing pop number with telecasters, violins, harpsichords, and a slightly bitter/sweet after-taste...

I hope your spring-into-summer is blooming marvellous.

After a two year hiatus, new stuff...

The new single is Pastoral Fantastic.

It's a whimsical number that builds into a terrifying mythopoeic shakedown.

Lots more to come over the summer.
